Tentacles poised
Much of my attention at the moment is focused on the upcoming Gloucester event. I’m not only performing as The Ominous Folk, but it will also be my first outing as a drag king - for a play. On top of that, I am going to be playing viola for Jessica Law - I’m hugely excited to be working with her.
I’ve started sharing a new novel over on Patreon. This is a speculative novel, definite hopepunk vibes, an actual steam engine and a fair amount of humour. More about that over on my blog - https://druidlife.wordpress.com/2023/06/11/fast-fashion-at-the-centre-of-the-world/
On the fiction front, there’s a small, silly story about Spoonzilla. I also did the illustration for this one, and am intending to spend more time drawing Hopeless, Maine creatures.
As part of the preparation for the Gloucester event, James and I recorded the traditional folk song The Cruel Mother - so that Jessica Law can get to grips with it. She sang with us at Woodchester, which was wonderful and we’re clearly going to be teaming up in all sorts of ways.
I’m also working on two novels and a novella, and generally feeling inspired and enthused about life right now.
Not bad for a week in which I also took a day off for my birthday!
