Unshockingly I will be talking about how Mabon is a modern name for the equinox and then getting into the much more interesting territory of a Welsh God who was once imprisoned in Gloucester! I will have a book table and this will be the first time I’ve taken copies of Alice in the Land of Time and Space to an event. I will be playing viola for the Saturday evening and singing on Sunday as well.
It has been a ridiculous week, again and also more. The Hopeless, Maine kickstarter trundles slowly onwards. I’ve blogged about the focal book here. Keith has written about it in this post - https://hopeless-maine.co.uk/2024/09/19/meet-the-welcoming-committee/.
Over on the Druid Life blog I’ve reviewed the next book in the Hurnungaz series. I’ve talked about inner landscapes, and avoiding depression. I’ve also got a guest post from Mariëlle S. Smith with a tarot spread to support creative work.
On the books in progress front, I’m now going through final edits for Fast Fashion at the Centre of the World. Book covers are in progress. I’ve also written the first chapter for Murder Village, which launches on Patreon in October - at the Little Fictions level. It’s folk horror, but mostly spooky and gothic rather than traumatic, and I promise that all of the cats in the story will be absolutely fine!
There’s a lot shifting on the Hopeless, Maine front at the moment, so expect more news on that score in the coming weeks. To quote James Weaslegrease on the subject ‘It is the end of the beginning.’
And finally, I have, rather strangely, been featured in a textiles project that was on show in Gloucester cathedral. Here I am as some kind of weird and winged creature, in flight over the cathedral itself!
I quite like Nimue-with-wings. To me, the image suggests the way you've "taken flight" over the past year.
