Fairies and other non-fictions
We have another Fairy Wingding coming up in Gloucester at the end of the month. It’s going to be busy for me! I shall be running a table and doing a talk on Mabon at some point. On Saturday night I’ll be playing viola for Jessica Law and on Sunday Carnival of Cryptids will be singing in the afternoon. We’ll also be out in the streets of Gloucester this Sunday, weather permitting.
On the Hopeless, Maine blog I’ve got some news about my novella A Semblance of Truth - which will be out in December, and a little bit of Mrs Beaten fiction.
On Druid Life I’ve blogged about Rain Meditations, nudity in Druidry, low carbon leisure and I’ve had some radical thoughts about manifesting.
The non-fiction side of the equation involves having started planning the next Pagan book. I’m going to write something specifically for people who want some Druidry in their lives, but aren’t drawn to priesthood, or leadership or necessarily much formal practice. This will be a book for people who are time-poor, or who prefer to be lay Pagans. I’m excited about it because it won’t be about pairing things down to five minute versions, or some kind of druid-lite. It’s going to be something substantial and enriching, and I have a lot to say about how to make your everyday life more Druidic without having to invest time and energy you don’t have. Initially this will be going out via Patreon at the Bards and Dreamers level - also available for the more expensive Steampunk Druid and Epic levels. Once its written I will put it out more widely. Previous books I’ve handled this way can be found in my ko-fi store.
Next week sees the launch of a kickstarter for the next Hopeless, Maine books in American hardcover editions. If you haven’t got the first two hardbacks, these should be available through the kickstarter. You can sign up now -should you so wish - to get notifications.
For those of you who are new to all of this, Hopeless Maine is a gothic, steampunk sort of graphic novel series. It’s set on a haunted island full of magic, and is a tale about power, and the use of power, friendship and what it means to be magical. It’s also full of tentacles. It’s been called cosy cosmic horror, I’ve tended to refer to it as twisted whimsy.
The series itself is complete and has already been published in the UK by Sloth Comics. Outland entertainment are bringing it out in America, but you can get those editions further afield if you can stomach the postage costs.
