Being a stinky Briton
I’m on Hadrian’s wall this week. Keith is being a Roman, and I’m an Iron Age Briton - or as our Roman colleague would have it, a ‘stinky Briton.’ I’ve done a lot of spinning. but nothing like enough wool to create the clothes I’m wearing.
Blogging has continued over at https://druidlife.wordpress.com/ as I managed to set up a steady supply of posts in advance. I’m not writing much - the Roman tablet being a wooden thing holding blocks of wax you could scratch words into. I have been chipping away at a project in the evenings, but I’m not at all sure how and when that might show up in the world.
I’m hoping we can do more of the Roman/Iron Age historical work, as it’s a great excuse for poking around in all sorts of historical stuff, and would justify trying to make Roman style socks. They definitely had socks, I know that much.
Here’s some wool I’ve been working with - forged fleece from hedges so not very long fibres, and the kind of drop spindle that we’ve had for thousands of years.

That Roman looks a bit dodgy to me :)
What fun!
