Awards, Skulls, and Events
I’ll start with the skull. This postcard of mine is currently part of a charity auction raising money for assorted good causes. As a domestic abuse survivor, I picked Refuge. If you’re inclined to put in a bid for a good cause, wander this way - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155884248037?hash=item244b6cdbe5:g:veoAAOSws5llUN92 and if you’d like to see all of the mari lywd images in the auction, you can find those over here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/skullsnsheets
Skulls and Sheets - the artist running this, let me use one of her images for a Hopeless, Maine story this week, which you can read over here -https://hopeless-maine.co.uk/2023/11/26/in-the-winter-mist/ I’ve also got a story on the Hopeless blog from Mark Hayes, for which I provided a drawing - https://hopeless-maine.co.uk/2023/12/01/a-tale-no-man-knows/
This allows me to segue with some elegance towards Mark Hayes’s 2023 book of the year awards - a glorious and preposterous thing in which I am repeatedly mentioned. Do have a look as he also includes a number of books by friends of mine that are well worth checking out. https://markhayesblog.com/2023/12/01/books-of-the-year-2023-edition
My Substack shoutout this week is for Stephen Palmer. Stephen is a science fiction author primarily, his posts are thoughtful, philosophical things and always interesting to chew on.
David Bridger’s post on The Morrigan has been popular this week over on Druid Life. I’ve blogged about crafting, emotions, and bringing wildness into your life, amongst other topics.
I’ve also made a little video abut the final graphic novel in the Hopeless, Maine series:
And to round things off, my next event will be in Gloucester, where I’m running a goblin market table during the day - my bit is a kind of bring and buy for steampunks. I will have paperback books at a mere £5 each. My lovely chap is MCing in the evening and it’s a stupendous lineup.
