It’s going to be a busy weekend. I’m running a Goblin Market as part of the Steampunk revels in Gloucester - space for people to sell their wares without risk of losing money. It’s a way of supporting creators who don’t have enough of their own stuff to chance a table. My partner Keith is putting his Count Rostov hat on to MC the Saturday night concert. It’s a furry hat, if you were wondering. My mumming play is on at midday both days, and on Sunday I’m taking a community singing group into the church.
I’ve blogged about those new musical shenanigans - https://druidlife.wordpress.com/2023/12/08/sacred-spaces-and-singing/ and also about service, deity, and notions of victimhood
Mark Hayes put a lot of my books into his book of the year list, which cheered me greatly.
I’m struggling with the Hopeless, Maine project, and after some reflection I’ve started talking about it. That’s over here - https://hopeless-maine.co.uk/2023/12/08/where-do-we-go-now/ It’s already led to one deeply comforting conversation and I’m hoping for more people putting a hand up to get involved. I want this to be a community project and I cannot do it on my own.
The charity auction I was involved with has been a great success, with every skull finding a home and raising money for good causes.
On the writing front I’ve completed the third chapter for my spirits of place book and am also working on a hopepunk novel - a rather cheerful exploration of the collapse of civilization. Both of those are going out at the moment through Patreon and will emerge into the wider world at some point once I’ve finished them.
Have fun! It sounds like a busy time full of good things.
