Alice unleashed
This year I’ve been working on a book written by a Japanese monster maker. The story is Kazumitsu Akamatsu’s creation and is illustrated with photos of the fantastic models he makes. It’s like nothing else. I came into this as a co-writer/technician to polish up the translation. It was a challenging, fascinating text to work on. At present I have 100 print copies - a very limited UK first edition, some of which are available through ko-fi https://ko-fi.com/s/a09d1f40ed. I am only posting these in the UK at present.
So, that was a lot of excitement this week, following on from a brilliant weekend at Raising Steam. We ended up playing an extra set on the Saturday night, and being the band who got to close the event on the Sunday, which was all rather lovely. We don’t have any more Jessica Law and the Outlaws gigs lined up in the immediate future (although some bookings for next year already). Carnival of Cryptids will be singing at The Folk of Gloucester at 1pm this Saturday.
Over on Druid life I’ve shared birds, talked about trauma, Stonehenge, and what I’ve learned about body chemistry in relation to mental health.
Writing-wise I’ve mostly been focusing on the spirits of place book - currently being serialised on Patreon. Sometimes I like hopping about between multiple projects, sometimes I just want to knuckle down and focus on one, and it’s been that sort of a week.
I’ve got novels coming out in the autumn, and talks are under way about how best to have launch events for those, which is a cheery prospect.
And to finish up, here’s a random shout out for a book of mine that came out ages ago. You can reliably find it in places that sell books, here’s the link for the publisher’s website - https://www.collectiveinkbooks.com/moon-books/our-books/pagan-dreaming
